The only inhabitants in Myeik or Mergui Archipelago are Sea Gypsies, locally called Moken and normally known as Salone. They live on boats most of their life and stay on land only in the rainy season. Their career is fishing, diving for pearl and boat building. Even they are living in the sea for most of the time, they have their traditions, customs, cultures and traditional festival. During the festival, all villagers gather at a certain village, offer foods and pray for their fortune, for good health and more prosperous for coming year. And then they enjoy their meals and dance traditionally during their festival.
